15 books

Two posts in one day? Yes, my house is going to pots. I couldn’t resist after seeing this blog post over at Four Now and started by The Mommy Diaries.

“Here are the rules: Don’t take too long to think about it. Fifteen books you’ve read that will always stick with you. They don’t have to be the greatest books you’ve ever read, just the ones that stick with you.”

  1. Watership Down – Richard Adams (This book is heralded as a depiction of freedom and tyranny, but as a young girl; I just liked the rabbits.)
  2. My Side Of The Mountain – Jean Craighead George (I fell in love with the struggles and achievements of Sam, wishing I could have a pet falcon as well)
  3. Where The Red Fern Grows – Wilson Rawls (Old Dan and Little Ann’s dedication to each other and their master brought upon my first tears upon reading a book)
  4. The Black Stallion – Walter Farley (Yes, I see the trend of a child fighting life alone and succeeding in the books I read.)
  5. Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte (The first love story I ever read. Hmmm…is this really a love story?)
  6. Hideaway – Dean Koontz (I was hooked and now own every book he has written)
  7. Where the Sidewalk Ends – Shel Silverstein ( love the collection on poems! Even to this day! )
  8. 1984 – George Orwell (tapped into paranoia and the reality of government control)
  9. Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret – Judy Blume (What teenage girl didn’t love this book?)
  10. Diary Of A Young Girl – Anne Frank (Wow, just Wow)
  11. White Fang – Jack London (another great dog book, err..wolf book…whatever)
  12. Mark Of The Lion Trilogy – Francine Rivers (Highly recommended! Took me from tears to joy over and over)
  13. The Tell-Tale Heart – Edgar Alan Poe (talk about your deeds haunting you!)
  14. Happy Trails – Roy Rogers and Dale Evans (Their life story)
  15. The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz – L. Frank Baum (Who doesn’t want to see what is over the rainbow.

I invite you to visit the link above and see what other people have read and enter some of your own.

  1. Wonderful books! Thanks for joining in. I’ve never read the Wizard of Oz–I’ll have to add that to my ever-growing list!

  2. Great list! I forgot about Judy Blume and Shel Silverstein. Believe it or not, I have never read 1984. I think it’s time!
