The Homecoming Mad Dash + Blog Party 2009

UBP participants: Reading ALL the directions is not something that I am particularly good with…editing however comes naturally. Since I have already linked this post (and it contains my rambling and not my party stuff and I refuse to have a lower number on Mr Linky’s list) please scroll down to read about me and the party. I am putting all UBP stuff in purple so that you know where you should probably start reading.

Today the man of the house comes home from his business trip. I did not blog that he was gone because I have been warned that one of you out there might be a knife wielding stalker ready to pounce on the unguarded man free house. You know who you are…

Anyways it’s homecoming/oh my gosh I let the house really go while he was gone day. Tell me I am not the only wife who does this. When he goes it triggers some kind of co-dependency issue and I am unable to function as normal. I ban all kinds of housekeeping in the effort of making it fun for me the girls while Daddy is gone. We spend a lot of time out shopping, eating fast food (Note to self: all the McD’s in the world will not bring Daddy home any faster but soft serve ice cream is a nice balm for sorrow) and playing outside in my attempt to lessen my their loneliness and pain.

Fortunately this week had a slight reprieve in it. My parents came over for dinner last night, so there was a wonderful distraction and visit for all of us. We anxiously awaited their arrival all day and had a nice, homemade Mexican dinner. Bug was super excited about Mimi and Poppy coming over and stood vigil at the front door the moment she woke up so that she could be the first to see when they pulled in the drive. (The unfortunate thing was that they didn’t get here until 7:30pm and her legs were quite weary from pacing for almost 12 hours) We really enjoyed ourselves and I must confess that the time that Mimi went to the bedrooms with the kids to play was a wonderful vacation from the constant “Mommy, where’s Daddy? He at work? He sleeping? I want Daddy!! (All this said at the top of the lungs in the whiniest voice possible repeated 600 times an hour)

There was only one little snag in my own little mind. The dust vs. cleanliness ratio. Most of my family and friends know that I am slightly neurotic about cleaning. I also profess to everyone that when Daddy is gone that I am going to take a hiatus from cleaning so that it’s like we are all on vacation. This never really works. As I stated previously, I have a co-dependency nervous problem. Usually when he is gone is when I get all my big projects done because I need something to help keep me busy and speed up the day. (Yes, that is when I get out the below mentioned chain saw) With my parents coming over, I wanted to present them with a clean house…but this goes against my self-proclaimed non-cleaning rule. So how do I keep the uncontrollable nervous twitch cleaning to a minimum, have a presentable house for guests and still get to claim that we indeed took a housekeeping hiatus? I ended up settling for a few scattered toys, small pockets of dust and some lint/dog hair on the carpet. I think I hit the perfect balance without appearing too crazy as I scanned picture frames and declared them suitably dusty but not an allergy trigger.

Now that part is over and I have to closely examine myself…err…my closets (declared disaster zones) before the man gets home. He deserves to come home to made beds, empty laundry baskets and food on the stove (got that one covered as I have plenty of leftovers from last night’s fiesta) So today is mad dash, catch up day (so the man thinks I was still on schedule with my daily duties and I never once took a vacation and let things go wild while he was gone) while Bug once again stands vigil by the front door for her daddy’s return pushing Belly back so that she can claim first sighting.

Happy Homecoming Day!

Ultimate Blog Party 2009

I am partying with all of the bloggers out there!

The Blog Party 2009 is being hosted by 5 Minutes For Mom

There is tons going on (Entertainment, prizes and the best of all….more blogs to read!!!) If you are interested in participating in all the party fun click the picture above or in my sidebar.

A little about me for my new readers:

I am a SAHM to a 3 year old girl and a 17 month old girl. Sanity and rational thoughts are hard to come by, but are a hot commodity around here. My blogging purpose is to share stories of typical home life in hopes that someone will either rescue me or tell me that things like putting the gallon of ice cream in the dryer, consoling a child whose lovie is somewhere lurking at the grocery store (it probably ran away from being chewed on) and having to create a booger jar so that “we” don’t eat them is completely normal behavior.

I want to thank all you newbies for visiting me and hope that you come back often! I also hope that some of you out there are in the North West of America as my map of visitors show me that I am not speaking correctly to appeal to the people in Montana, N and S Dakota, etc. Please feel free to read other posts, hit the “about me” link for more info and tell me how adorable my little girls are!

There are so many cool prizes to be won at this year’s Ultimate Blog Party, but my top three picks would be:

1 — $100 gift certificate to A Rocking Horse To Love

2. – @50 gift certificate to Target stores provided by: Shoot-Me-Now

3. 5 bars of handmade goat milk soap, your choice of scent

Don’t be that creepy person lurking in the dark corners. Come join in on all the fun!!!!

Oh well, you only live once 🙂

  28. Cute blog, and your kids are cute. 🙂

  29. I was just jumping from UBP and I’m glad I came across your blog. I know the feeling of kids missing daddy. My youngest (2) doesn’t sleep well if her daddy’s not there to say goodnight. A call sometimes helps. We’re lucky he’s not away often. I look forward to reading more (I’ll be adding you to my list to read). Enjoy the rest of the party.
    Cheers,
    Carrie Anne
