Playground Rules For Moms

  1. If you purchased a $500 stroller for your child, $250 for a diaper bag and your children only wear designer clothes, you are not allowed to flaunt your “status” unless you are willing to also provide financial statements that shows that you are out of debt and a letter from your bank manager that states you are truly financial superior to anyone you come in contact with.
  2. Unless you carry a certificate from The American Academy of Pediatrics acknowledging that you are the leading authority in child rearing, do not suggest that you know better than another mother in the proper way to teach a child not to throw mulch at another child.
  3. If you notice that 99.9% of the children are playing with other children regardless of color, size or financial status; take a hint and include all mothers in conversation regardless of color, size or financial status.
  4. If you do not want your child getting their clothes dirty, play rough, pick up sticks, share their drink with another child or yell; do not bring them to a park.
  5. If your child is advanced in any way, do not brag about this fact. If the child is truly advanced, everyone will notice without it being pointed out. Don’t try and convince me that Little Johnny sitting by himself eating dirt has superior social skills.
  6. Play nice, someone in the group may be writing a blog.

As you can tell, I participated in an impromptu play date. I was surprised and disappointed to see that the children played better with each other than the mothers did. I thought tossing out some basic playground rules would benefit mothers as much as the “No Running”, “One at a time on the slide” rules that our children must follow.

  1. well, how crappy of them! ridiculous as well.

  2. So what kind of certificate do you need? I’m thinking I could come upw with something…

  3. Crazy how moms judge each other while kids could care less what label is on their clothes.

  4. too funny, do tell!

  5. Kids do play better than adults! (hugs) It’s too bad I can’t convince Stacy to move closer to you! We could make up a whole play group all on our own!

Most importantly...what did you think? Do you have questions and concerns or request for a certain post?
