I don’t think this is an actual quote, but it is in my heart to say it…

Hope is faith on wings soaring over clouds of fear.

No matter where you look these days there is very little that can give us hope. We cringe at comments about the economy, about the new Presidency, conflicts abroad, etc. The news is generally bad and the speculators are worse.

I looked at my prayer list today and felt overwhelmed at all the names and situations I was about to offer up and then it hit me.

Hope.

We still have a glimmer of hope to hold on to. As I receive phone calls and emails about prayer requests (even little laughs about my prayer calendar) and prayer warriors gather, hope is reborn. Hope that is built on faith. A faith that we will pull through each individual hardship and struggle. A knowledge (that we sometimes forget) that we have weathered worse before. But sometimes as we first step into that crisis the fear is so overwhelming that we don’t know which way to turn, what to think, what to plan and what might come next. It is times like this that the above phrase becomes my motto. I lift my hopes high on the wings of faith that I may soar above the clouds of fear, doubt, confusion and disappointment. I know that as I rise above all that darkness that there is a beautiful light awaiting me, to comfort me and to guide me. The hardest part is to unburden myself to where my load is light enough to allow myself to take flight. This is where the hard part comes in. I, alone, can’t unburden myself. I can’t take it upon myself to rid myself of this weight. I am reminded of my oldest child is who learning to dress and undress herself. She simply does not know how to handle it all and it seems to be an unbearable and daunting task to complete. Yet, when I step in and help her do it correctly because I know how to do it, that we get through it together. During these times of such unrest, we should allow our Father to help us get it right. To allow ourselves to be helped in the right direction, following in His guidance.

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31
