Bug’s appointment went so well. I am so proud of her behavior in the new situation. Most importantly we got answers!!!! They did several tests and determined that she does have some hearing loss. Her eardrums are in good shape (although ours are a bit damaged now hearing her protests) Then we sat in the booth and she had to listen for sound direction, filtering white noise and identifying simple words that she knows at different volumes. The outcome of all of that is that she can’t tell noise direction when there is any volume of white/distraction noise, she also can’t hear full words when spoken. She hears the long vowels and strong consonants but the rest of the word drops off in her hearing. She relies strongly on body language to try to piece it together. This explains so much about her behavior at times and lack of talking. There were some more tests that they could have done, but would have required sticking instruments in her ears. We felt that we got some good answers and will work up to that step later as she gets more comfortable. We will go back once a month to make sure that her hearing does not further deteriorate and then have once a week speech therapy to teach her how to properly say words and begin communicating finally!!! I can’t tell you how overjoyed we are at finally being able to identify the problem and see solutions. Thank you all for your prayers!!!

  1. Lots of love to you and the gurls. I am so happy for you and Bug that there are some answers and relief in sight!

I hope traffic didn’t kill you, or make you crazy. I didn’t see anything on CNN about a lunatic losing in traffic on I-24, so I’m assuming your good.

  2. I am so glad that you got the answers you needed!
Sending some hugs and prayers your way!

Most importantly...what did you think? Do you have questions and concerns or request for a certain post?
