Hail Bound

Today we had a surprise hail storm for a good 30 minutes.

Picture taken by my husband, who was at home alone and when wondering what I would do, he took a picture for me.

The girls and I were at the Library trying to find a book I wanted. I was trying to avoid The Librarian, but the hail and wind actually broke one of the windows out and we were evacuated into the basement to wait out the storm. Contrary to my first belief, she does not have people in chains in the basement forcing them to read. I was however, trapped for 30 minutes with the lady being told once again about the importance of reading to my childrens’ souls. Trapped. No escape.

On the way home, I saw many trees damaged. Fortunately, none were damaged in my yard. Just a good scattering of small limbs and leaves. There was one injury in my neighborhood. I spotted the poor soul dazed and floundering in the middle of the street.

Hail Storm0002

He is NOT friendly and seems to rather resent his rescue. His wings are not capable of flight at this point and my husband (God bless the man) is tolerating our house being used as a Red Cross for WindBlown and Hail Damaged Birds. The girls have enjoyed him (FROM A DISTANCE) and are carrying out the worm gathering mission with happy hearts. He is loud and annoying but seems to have a good amount of strength. We will monitor him closely to know the very second he will be able to leave our nest for one of his own. THE VERY SECOND!

To those of you who inquired about yesterday’s entry. Yes, all of that really happened. The only untruth was, of course, Bug typing it for me. My life has always been very adventurous (ask my mother and sister) and it seems the strangest things happen. I only thank the Good Lord that he has given me the humor and perspective to laugh and enjoy each moment.
