Dear Kitty,

Dear Kitty,

“Did it help you heal?”

I was having a text chat with a dear friend and she asked about my book.

It didn’t take me long to answer her back.

“No, I don’t think anything will take away the pain, but it gave it purpose.”

I think that’s where we get tripped up after we experience something painful. We imagine there is a time that it will quit hurting.

Perhaps in time it does lessen as we find ways to live around the pain, but it doesn’t ever completely disappear.

Tiny cuts that we get in everyday life, don’t typically leave a mark to be seen as time passes, yet those deep cuts; they produce a scar. A reminder of the pain. We will never forget the “When, How or What” that caused the scar.

The same in life. The thing that changes us painfully is often the thing that is a reminder as we live through life. A different lesson for each person.

Sometimes we need to look at those scars and realize that although we have learned to live around the pain, it’s there for a reason. Find the purpose behind your pain.

…and frankly…just because it’s still hurting doesn’t mean you aren’t healing.

  1. Amen my sister friend … and thank you for encouraging us to believe that we CAN move on, find purpose in the pain, and use it for His glory!

I wanted to let you know that I have finally found my way back to blogging although I have a new “home.” Would love it if you would come visit me.

  2. I am glad you are finding a way to heal and a purpose to what has happened. Sending you the hope and prayers that this will continue.
